Ephesians 1:11 (Msg) "It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.  Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, He had His eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose He is working out in everything and everyone."
You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  God thought of you long before you ever thought about Him. You may choose your career, your spouse, your hobbies but you don’t get to choose your purpose. The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.

Purpose 5.  You were made for a mission.  God is at work in the world, and he wants you to join Him.  This assignment is called your mission.  You have a ministry in the Body of Christ and a mission in the world.  Your ministry is your service to believers and your mission is your service to unbelievers. Your mission has eternal significance.

Purpose 4. You were shaped to serve God. God deliberately shaped and formed you to serve Him in a way that makes your ministry unique. He carefully mixed the DNA cocktail that created you. David praised God for this incredible personal attention to detail: “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous”.

Romans 8:29 (Msg)  "God knew what He was doing from the very beginning.  He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love Him along the same lines as the life of His Son…We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in Him."
Purpose 3.   You were created to become like Christ.  From the very beginning, God’s plan has been to make you like His Son, Jesus. This is your destiny. God announced this intention at Creation: “Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image and likeness.’”  This is a great privilege and gives us dignity.

Hebrews 2:10 (NCV)  "God is the One who made all things, and all things are for His glory.  He wanted to have many children share His glory."

Purpose 2.  You were formed for God’s family.  God wants a family, and He created you to be a part of it. The entire Bible is the story of God building a family who will love Him, honour Him and reign with Him forever.  God treasures relationships.  The Trinity is God’s relationship to Himself.  He didn’t need a family – He desired one.

Revelation 4:11 (NLT)  "You created everything, and it is for Your pleasure that they exist and were created."
Purpose 1.   You  were planned for God’s pleasure.   The moment you were born into the world, God was there as an unseen witness, smiling at your birth.  He wanted you alive, and your arrival gave Him great pleasure. God did not need to create you, but He chose to create you for His own enjoyment.  You exist for His benefit, His glory, His purpose and His delight.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness.  It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions.  If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God.  You were born by His purpose and for His purpose.

Ask Father God to lead you someone today that you can introduce to Jesus, and lead to salvation.
