Col 2:6-7 “As therefore you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so live in him, rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving”
Having now been accepted into the family of God through Christ, let us endeavor to grow in our likeness with God. Hence, begin to see like God, think like God, speak like God and act like God through the grace that has been abundantly made available to us.
Eph 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before hand, that we should walk in them”
What a joyous revelation to know that you have been crafted by the highest Genius behind creation. Look at the whole creation, the sky, the sea and all the beauty of creation around you. Is it not a glorious and marvelous sight? Now look at yourself and realize that you are a part of all that splendour, having been shaped by the Master Artisan and start praising Him for having made you a part of His excellent work.
Jer 29:12 “Then you will call upon me, and come and pray to me, and I will hear you”
Have you ever felt like, does God even hear my prayers? Well he is a good listener. He hears when you pray and that is for sure. Only you need to ask Him to help you notice His response. It is not that He does not listen or hear when we pray but that are we able to identify Him when He responds. My prayer for you today is to have the wisdom to identify His responses to your prayers so that it may be well with you.
Jas 2:23 “And the scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God”
Would you believe that God, your Creator actually desires to call you friend. Well, already He calls you friend by the mere accepting of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. However there is a greater invitation into that title. Looking at Abraham’s life we see that the one way he pleased God was in trusting Him and taking Him upon His word for what He promised Abraham. That made Abraham a friend of God. Let God call you His friend by wholly trusting in Him and obeying His voice.
Isaiah 43:1 “I have called you by name; you are mine”
What a wonderful thing to hear God saying: “you are mine!”. He takes care of His own. He protects His own. He provides for His own. He deposits wisdom, outstanding abilities and much more to His own. I urge you to grab a hold of that and to start walking tall in the knowledge that you are backed by the Most High in your endeavours.
Jdg 6:12 “And the angel of the LORD appeared to him [Gideon], and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valour”
God referred to Gideon as to a bold and courageous man at the time when Gideon felt the opposite. He felt like a wimp. Gideon was called by God to deliver Israel from the hand and the persecution of the Midianites but Gideon did not feel like he had what it takes. What about you? Do you feel like Gideon? Do you feel like you are not good enough for what you believe God has called you to do? Well start agreeing with your Creator and see yourself like He sees you.
Mat 22:39 “And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself”
Loving self is not the same as selfishness. Biblically, self love means seeking the ultimate good for ourselves and others. You can never love others more than you love yourself; otherwise it is twisted and conditional. We love ourselves if we seek the kingdom of God because it is where we get the wisdom to succeed in life.
1Co 1:27 “But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong”
Are you so self conscious of your weaknesses to the point where you have an exaggerated opinion of other people’s strength and talents? Moses had a speech impediment, yet God used him mightily to deliver Israel from slavery in Egypt. Trade your weakness for God’s strength. He wants you just as you are. In fact you have what it takes to be a mighty force in His hands.
Rom 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
What is the internal judgment that you always pass at yourself? Have you ever heard the saying that goes: “We are our worst enemy”? Are you your worst enemy? Well, give yourself a break. Everyone messes up, disappoints others and self sometimes. But God through His son Jesus created a path for forgiveness. First He forgives us that we may also forgive others. Yet my challenge goes beyond that by asking you to forgive yourself. Refusing to forgive you wrecks the power and effectiveness of God’s grace.
Gen 1:31 “And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good”
Today you might be feeling like does God really care about me? Do I really matter to Him? May be life blows and experiences have made you feel worthless or useless. I have good news for you. Your worth is not based on your abilities or lack thereof. It is based on this truth that God looked at His creation and said: “It is good” In God you are worthy. You are significant. You are special. Believe it!
