At 4:00am André woke the team up for an early departure. Today we are determined to get home! We were on the road at 5am and made our way to Bloemfontein. From here our party split. Gary, Lida, Curtly, General and Darius drove on the N6 towards East London and we remained on the N1 to Cradock. We stopped at a farm stall called The Daggaboer Farmstall. (more...)

Woke up really early to be on the road at 6:30am. We made our way to the Botswana/South African border at Martins Drift by 9:10am. There was great celebration to be back on SA soil, no place like home! We drove hard until Potgietersrus (Mokopane), Where Louis took the Jeep and limping Buffalo 1 to get seen to.
We woke up bright and early, ate a quick breakfast and packed up camp. We were on the road to Francistown by 8:30am. I managed to get the kids school work completed for the day in the car on the way there. We had so many police check points and vet stops for the foot & mouth disease problem. The constant stop and go was a little annoying but we complied and allowed for our vehicles and vans to be checked for meat and fresh milk and eggs each time.
We woke up to the sound of the noisy elephants, had a quick breakfast and packed up camp to the sound of gun shots outside the gate, used to ward off the elephants. We were on the road by 8:40am and arrived in Nata, Botswana by lunch time, filled the vehicles with fuel, bought ice-cream, water and a few other supplies. Then off to Nata Lodge Camp Site. An oasis set among the Mokolwane Palms on the edge of the Makgadikgadi pans.
After a bit of a 'bumpy night' due to Christian's restless night and temp., we ate a delicious breakfast at the hotel, accompanied by Rodney and Adonica. At 10am Rodney and Adonica went for their complimentary massages and Lida did school work with Jordan and Faith. Andre and I took Christian and the TV crew to the Vic. Falls to get some more filming done.
We woke up after a good night's rest, had breakfast and sprang to work on washing laundry and cleaning Fred. Lida helped me with the children's school work and after lunch we got going with more TV work.
We slept in a little later than planned. At about 9 am we were on the road accompanied by Louis; Darius; Gary and Lida, in the Hilux. The rest of the team stayed behind in Lusaka as they had shopping to do. We decided to stop for breakfast at a beautiful nursery that had a lovely cafe and stunning gardens with children's play areas. We had a great feast and plenty of laughs as we filmed each others reports of highlights during our trip.
Woke up at 4:30am to find a large hippo grazing outside our van! We were ready for our 6:30 departure to Lusaka. Gary and Lida took Rodney and Adonica to the airport to fly to Lusaka for a church service. Then joined the rest of the team as we made our way to Lusaka by road. The 1st 5 hours were a little grueling as we drove to Chapata on the bad gravel road with roadworks all over it.
We woke up to another beautiful day and enjoyed a rather large breakfast of eggs, toast, hash browns and pancakes! We did more school work and caught up on our filming segments for our programs. After a scrumptious braai'd chicken, wild rice and veggies lunch, with a delicious sauce that was a concoction of banana, Ginger, fresh lemon juice and some other ingredients, the kids went for a swim.
After a good nights rest we woke up refreshed and ready for a good day in the African sunshine! We took advantage of the time and good weather and caught up on clothes washing. It was also a great opportunity to catch up on some school work. We managed to get more T.V. work done too.
